Louis Bolduc: His Family and His House
Carl J. Ekberg
184 pp + x, 74 illustrations, bibliography, index. $16.95 + $3.95 s/h

The Bolduc House in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, is the most outstanding example of the restoration of a French colonial building in the world. While the structure, built ca. 1793, is well known by historic preservationists, until Dr. Carl J. Ekberg prepared this monograph little was known of its builder, Louis Bolduc. In typical Ekberg style, the work is easy to read (at times downright exciting) and a model of careful historical research. The book also contains a Bolduc genealogy by Anton J. Pregaldin, plus appendixes by the restorer of the home. Ernest Allen Connally, FAIA.
