A Complete Official Road Guide of the Lincoln
Highway, Fifth Edition
The Patrice Press, 566 pp, 326 photographs, $22.95, pb only.
ISBN 1-880397-39-0
In 1993 The Patrice Press republished a facsimile reprint of this
remarkable volume, originally issued in 1924 by the Lincoln Highway
Association. It sold out quickly – and now we have brought it back! With hundreds of ads from that magical
era, the work gives detailed information on the 414 cities and towns
through which the famous highway passed, from Times Square in New York
City to San Francisco’s Lincoln Park, on the Pacific Ocean. Advice to
readers includes "Don’t forget the colored goggles," and
"Don’t stop to cool motor at top of a hill, put car in gear and
coast down to cool motor." The trip was thrilling in 1924. The book
is thrilling today. |
